The objective of the this department and graduate institute is to provide students with both practice and knowledge in order to become outstanding mechanical engineers, to possess the capability of computer-aided mechanical design and manufacturing, and to train students with creativity, discipline, morals, teamwork spirit, social responsibility and international outlook.

Introduction01
The Mechanical Engineering Department, established in 1974, offers master degree program for graduate students of college and undergraduate degree program for high school graduates. Up to now, high school graduates could enroll in four-year program (daytime and continuing education, since 2000) or two-year continuing education (since 1998). Besides, a two-year institute program of continuing education (since 1998) is also available. Graduate program is also offered since 2006 and is named as Graduate Institute of Manufacturing Technology. The objective of the Mechanical Engineering Department is to provide students with required knowledge and experience to become practical, mechanically-specialized engineers capable of machine design, manufacturing, operation, control, and maintenance through skilled exercise of machine and computer software. To enhance students’ abilities to serve the requirements of local manufacturing industries and meet the needs of current industrial development trends, the department has strengthened and refined the following features: “Production Technology of Computer- Aided Mold Design and Manufacturing” and “Plasma Surface Modification and Thin Film Deposition Technology”accompanied by “Production Technology of Mechatronic Integrated Automation
